Charlie graduated with a degree in marine biology from Swansea University in 2018. Throughout the course of his degree, he gained aquaculture experience whilst at the Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Research and worked for a non-profit charity in Africa, monitoring artisanal fisheries. Following graduation, Charlie interned for three months at Pontus Research before becoming a full member of staff in June 2019.
